Introduction
We take this truth to be self-evident: Everyone who has invested
their money in buying a personal computer would like to deduct this expense
on their income tax. The IRS, however, wants proof that the computer is
used for business purposes, and not just to play video games. How can you
prove that your computer is "just for business use"? Although we at Soft
and Friendly would never doubt your word, the IRS has been increasingly
insistent upon good record-keeping to substantiate all business-related
deductions. Thus, the only way to really prove that the computer is used
for business purposes is to keep a record of all computer use and what it
was used for- similar to the records that the IRS requires for other
deductions. Keeping these records by hand would be tedious and
time-consuming, but keeping them with Deduct-a-Matic is a breeze.
